Taaruf Week

For those who aren't IIUM students, Taaruf Week is basically an orientation week when you first enter the university.

To all new or future IIUM students, let me help you understand what basically you will be doing in this Taaruf week!

Taaruf week is usually 5 days and it starts at 5am until 12am, you will be having Jemaah prayers, talks, briefing, breakfast, lunch break and dinner break.

When you register yourself in your respected mahallat, don't forget to bring a copy of your offer letter and a passport sized photo (eventhough it's not stated in your letter). Later, you will be given a set of papers and the most important paper is the Taaruf week timetable!

You will be instructed to go to the CAC Hall (located near the mosque) to take a picture for your smart card and pick up your Taaruf kit and if you're a direct intake student or took Tilawah in Centre for Foundation Studies, you need to go for the test in the mosque Ground Floor.

To be honest, it's the most tiring week of your life so be prepared. Taaruf week is always a week before the returning students come back from their Inter semester break. So the university is quite so its best you just attend the Taaruf week than skipping it.

For those of you who plan to skip, let me share some tips with you. Taaruf week is actually compulsory (that's what they say) so you're given a paper to stick those sticker they give you. Just for your information, they don't actually give stickers for every session so chill! Mostly (based on my study) stickers are given during Subuh prayer time and the night sessions (usually 2 stickers a day).

I personally believe you should attend certain briefings such as AMAD (Admission...), Library (especially if you're a Law student), kulliyah and the residents briefing. I would recommend you to skip all the talks Hahaha (evil laugh).

Important reminder! You will be seated in either the lower or upper deck. And the best place for you to sleep or sit comfortably is the upper deck. The committee is very strict in filling up the lower deck first so my advice is for you to come late and then you get to sit on the upper deck. Remember to download a huge amount of music or movies in your handphone to keep you entertained (not to forget your earphones)
